I think I have it down now, part of the problem is skipping to the various chapters of the book instead of reading from the beginning. We just started with 3DS3, and someone else had the tutorial for the first few days. I've made considerable progress over the weekend. Thanks very much for your help. I've made a recommendation at work that we use CompuServe in general for all of our computer related questions.. Since I don't use Autocad in my department, perhaps someone could briefly explain the generation of a .dxf file. I plan to go to our Engineering dept. to read the book on that too..<g> I presume that ACad has a feature for 'exporting' a .dxf format…Thanks again. Brian

Brian, There is an AutoCAD command DXFOUT which will create a DXF file. – Brian
