I see some of the message headings hint that a buyer has already been found?
Is this rumor or does it ring true?
Also, I read somewhere that if the Amiga technology is sold it should happen
fast, because in today's market, ANY lapse in R&D can kill your product very
fast.

Something is happening very fast, but we don't know if it's window
shopping, negotiating, or buying of CBM and/or the Amiga. Something does
seem to be happening.
Right now, we're all waiting for some kind of official announcements.

So far it is only rumor. A few people have posted claiming to have inside
info. Perhaps they do, perhaps they wish they did. However, till papers are
signed, and press releases, released, it is only rumor, and those seriously
involved parties can change their minds. Any follower of business news lately,
has seen publicly released intenetions to buy/merge recanted for various
reasons. (ie. The merger of Electronic Arts, and Broderbund had been called
off, after being publicly announced by both companies, that it would take
place. Think how much easier it would be to call off a purchase that hadn't
been publicly released, if the buyer got cold feet.)
Sure, as an Amiga owner the rumors sound good, and seem logical, but then again
it is human nature to believe news we want to hear at face value, and question
news that we didn't want to hear.

Well, if that's the case, then news of the Amiga surviving is not what you

I question everything…..
I do my best not to give in to human nature, and fall into such traps of
thinking.
I would dearly love to see the Amiga resurrected. However, I am not going to
believe in, and pin my hopes on every rumor that floats by. No matter how
strongly I believe in any rumor, it would not make it happen. Worst case would
be to commit money I couldn't afford to loose based on an unfounded rumor.
Life is like five card draw. You play the cards in your hand, and sometimes
you get new ones, which may be better or worse than the ones you discarded.
But all in all, you have to make the best of the hand you were dealt.

Since I have your ear, what have you used the Amiga for? Video, music,
education, games, business (heh), etc..

Yea, I do agree that this rollercoaster ride of rumor we've been on for
the last two weeks is getting a bit weary.

For all the Amiga users out there, I hope there is a quick resolution to this
problem. I feel for you guys/gals. I'm a DOS junkie and my world is seemingly
being abandoned by the developers for a loaded down and kludgy GUI (Windoze
v3.1 and Windoes'NT v3.1) <G>.

I think you're a kind and understanding person, not quite like some other
PC-fan on this forum (see: AMIGADEATH, he caused it). In my opinion everybody
should support his own system/platform and I can't help it, but I'm a
Amiga-freak. I also support your point of view considering Windows, it's a
lousy operating-system and IMHO it has been released way too soon.
I also use DOS (6.2) a lot and I like it (not much as I like Workbench, though
<g>)
