Thanks, I'll give Diaquest a call. Is render to fields really that much better than render to frames with vblur.ixp? In any event, I'm trying to get the highest video quality and will keep looking into this problem. -Mike

Rendering to frames with vlbur.ixp is fine when objects and/or the scene are moving slowly. But when things are moving quickly, there is NO COMPARISON. Since temporal resolution for field rendering is 60fps, the quality of the output is totally different. Plus, field rendering kicks in the field-filter, and vblur can't do as good a job as the integrated field filter. – G

I called my Panasonic 7750 salesman, he says: "The Panasonic 7750 doesn't support 3DS render to fields.Render to fields requires a VTR in the 50-60K price range." If this is true, it looks like us 7750 users are out of luck.Can anyone confirm this?? -Mike

When this is layed down as ONE FRAME on tape, and played back (all VCR's play back a field at a time no matter what), you are getting the full effect of the fields being rendered properly. Therefore, your tape deck only has to record ONE FRAME at a time, a job that your 7750 can easily handle. Greg Pyros

As Greg says, 3DS uses a cute little trick to do field rendering with lower-cost video devices that "only" do frame rendering. It basically interleaves two fields on one frame and records in frame mode. It looks like Sherwood is offering to give you a hand to get your 7750 up and running… Take him up on it! – G

Mike, The Panasonic goober was obviously talking about VTRs that can record single fields. 3D Studio combines the necessary fields in software and writes out a full *frame*, which gets recorded to tape a frame at a time. Kevin Krell – Computer Support Associates
