#Soundcard with Vortex
8 messages in this thread
I have a question concerning a soundcard with an Vortex486slc2-Emulator.
Has anybody build in a soundcard (ProSonic 16) in an Amiga2000 with an
Vortex 486Slc2-Emulator? Or more simple: Can anyone give me a hint with
the I/O_adress, the IRQ and the DMA channel that I can use with my
soundcard? Or is it impossible to use a soundcard? My Amiga ( not only the
GoldenGate ) always quits with a Guru. I thank you for any response.
I don't have a vortex but an A2386BB and I use an Ad Lib Gold card in my
Ami2000 and it works fine. I'm using the defaults for IRQ and DMA channel 7.
Sorry I can't help, just thought I'd let you know that a sound card works in my
set up.
I will try DMA channel 7. I think I didn't use it. I hope that will work,
but I'm not so sure. Thank you.
Hey, I've got the Vortex 486 and am running a sound card that works ok in DOS
but adds a high pitch over the sound
in Windows. I've tried every IRQ and DMA combination that seemed plausibel
(well , at least a whole bunch) and it won't go away. The board is a Winstorm
16 (also sold as Winsound) which emulates soundblaster, adlib, proaudio
spectrum 16 and thunderboard). I have to tell y'all that this IRQ and DMA stuff
on the PeeC's is worse than anything I recall facing on the Amiga!!!
I've got that board too! It works very well but I don't remember the
exact configuration in terms of IRQ and DMA channels. I'll try to get'em
for ya and include them on my next post.

Super, I spent all weekend trying everything! Please forward ASAP I'm dying
here…Anyhting would help.
Well, as I understand is that your soundcard is working. Mike does give
you a message with the right IRQ and DMA, but its me who needs
them. When you have them, please give me a message too.Thank you.
Sorry about that!! I'll make sure that I get the information to you. I
just get too gung ho sometimes when I can help and I don't read into the
smaller details like who actually needs the information.
