I have read good things about the Amiga in the video, sound and DTP application arenas, though I've never worked on one. I read a download from a guy name Jim Drew (I think that was his name). He seems to want to buy the Amiga technology, have you heard of this at all? Also, do you know who he is or what he produces? David.

Jim makes Emplant. It is a card for the Amiga that allows you to run Mac software faster than on a comparable Mac. Other modules are being worked on to allow fast emulation of 486 PC's and other platforms. Currently, Mac software can be run at the same time as Amiga software, due to the Amiga's multi-tasking. The card and software averages $350. A cheap way to run Mac software. He is very interested in taking over development of the Amiga if no other company takes over development. He is looking to put together a consortium of developers to try to buy and save the Amiga. He produces the Emplant, a hardware/software combo that allows the Amiga to emulate a Macintosh. (With 256K Mac Roms, and proper display, you can emulate a color Mac.) He has promised the near term delivery of an IBM version of the Emplant for Emplant owners. (Upgrade is reputed to be $99) As for his chances of sucess, I'll leave that open for debate by others.

Thanks for the background info. Whatever he/Samsung and whoever else is interested in the Amiga technology, they had better act quickly. Today's technology can seemingly become outdated by tomorrow <g>. Let's just hope there are compatible lawyers on both sides who can understand the necessity for a quick resolution <G>. David.
