Oh yes, i DO realize that, that's why i only sende pure info, which was in my
newspaper. Enough rumors already here on Compuserve. The rest of my message was
just questions
"why would anyone pay for a technology just to kill it when all they have to do
is to let it die along with the parent"
The only thing i can think of is that they want to use it and/or don't want
someone else to use it. If they only want to prevent someone else from using
it, it would be like making sure the dead one is dead. But at least they're
sure they have one less competitor.

Who says you can trust what is in your newspaper? The Baltimore Sun
reported that Sony purchased Amiga. Until Commodore makes an
announcement, nothing you hear, regardless of source, is rumor.

I think you meant, _anything_ "you hear, regardless of source, is
rumor." Actually, when it comes to C=, perhaps the nothing _is_ really
more appropriate <BG>.

Steve, I read an article on Internet saying that Sony was one of the last Asian
companies in the line-up <g> for buying the Amiga-tech. More likely: Acer,
Mitsubishi, Daewoo, Hyundai, etc…
The person behind the article also claims to have been in contact with Karola
Bode, head of Marketing and publ. rel. at C= Germany. She sais:
"The name of the buyer is known only to a few insiders. There are a few hints,
though: The investor is getting the rights on C= trademarks, tech- nology,
know-how and products. The company is a top-ten Asian one. It is a global
thrust that has not yet have a strong representation/reputation in the
consumer-market and therefore isinterested in C+ anfd the Amiga. At last, C=
will have enough resources to make an agressive marketing, fast development and
efficient worldwide distribution. In two weeks (!) things will go full speed
ahead, like never before", she said. "We won't just sit there now for the next
6 months and wait to see what will happen, it will be a big succes".
Again: the full range of Amiga products will be maintained, get also ready for
a massive re-launch of the CD32/FMV"

I saw the same article. My reaction? Big deal.
This is third hand "info" from someone, Karola Bode, who has an extreme
interest in keeping current customers buying product.
I've learned over the years to take anything someone from Commodore "marketing
and PR" with an extremely large grain of salt. I believe it highly like that
Ms. Bode is talking to hear her head rattle and to attempt to instll confidence
in the local market. Until there is an official announcement by Commodore of
any investment/buyout by ANYONE, it's just talk.
Don't get me wrong, I sincerely hope/wish/desire that Samsung or some other
monied faery godmother steps in and rescues Amiga, continues development, and
makes the machine competitive again.
Well, Steve, I'm just keeping up the positive attitude! 🙂
