#Unrolling Mapping Cords?

Adjusting bitmaps to complex geometery is too hard! I'd like to investigate reading the mapping coordinates from a *.3DS or *.PRJ file and un-rolling them to create a 2D morph target for bitmaps. Do this sound do-able? Are the file formats and the method 3DS uses to apply bitmaps to maps available? If so how do I get this information?

The R3 File Toolkit is not shipping yet and it's anticipated audience is also registered developers. To become a registered developer contact Max Hoffman at 415-332-2344. << and the method 3DS uses to apply bitmaps to maps available? >> Besides the UI in 3ds which shows the planer, spherical or cylindrical, I have not seen any code/documentation outlining the actual steps (method). However, IPAS3, gives you the ability to read/set the materials, the U,V offsets for the textured vertices, the materials used, mark faces that lie on the seam of a bitmap that wrap around a sperical or cylindrical object and define the smoothing groups. With this functionality, you should be able to be creative and create your own methods. jonas[adesk]

Thanks for the info! I tried to contact Max Hoffman at the number you mentioned and got disconected three times. I called the (800)# and then another # they gave me and no one picked up! I'm E-mailing Max @ 74404,1322 – I hope this is the right max!

<< and got disconected three times>> Wow, that is unusual.. 415-332-2344 is the main business line. That day there must have been something wrong with the phone company or something.. We have hundreds of calls come into that number each day.
