>> Richard, I assume you are with Texel, so the $64 question- when will the multispeed version of the 3024 be available? << Hello, Phil – Am I _that_ convincing a writer? :|) No, I don't work for Texel. Actually, I am just a humble person who recently started my own computer consulting company. My flowering praise is probably due to the fact that any time I get a product or information I am happy with, I spare no expense in supporting it. The $64 answer is…………..sometime in 1993! (g). According to the announcement included with the drive, Texel will notify purchasers when upgrades have begun. I had to make a multi-level decision when it came time to purchase a CD-ROM drive, as I've started getting some work in. I would also have preferred to wait for the whole enchilada, but the money was right, my accountant said the time was right, etc. etc. RRR

PMJI, but what multispeed upgrade are you referring to? I didn't get any announcement with my DM3024. Are you referring to Kodak Photo CD Multisession capability? Jim

Thanks, Richard. Word *was* that multi-session (not multispeed as I erroneously typed) Texel was to be available by end of December. Word also was that new Toshiba 3401 multisession would be ready this month. Vaporware strikes again, eh? I'll wait as long as I can, then bite the bullet! Phil

I just bought a Texel 3024 and included inside was a flyer which say for $19.95 Texel will install a firmware upgrade for multisession photo cd. Harry

I know, Harry. But I don't think they are ready for the upgrade yet- and I'd rather wait until I can get one already done, so I don't have to bother removing and shipping the drive. I hope it will be soon. Thanks for the input. Phil

Richard, PMJI, but I think Phil asked about the multispeed version (which is what the 3024/5024 are). Did you misunderstand and think he was asking about MultiSession Photo-CD capability? Bill
