I heard a rumor which I have been unable to confirm to this point, and was
hoping someone here would know. Has Commodore gone out of business? If not,
was there some other annoucement recently concerning Commodore's business
status.
Thanks for any info anyone can offer.

Commodore has gone into voluntary liquidation. There are dozens of
rumors, but nothing official. The Amiga technology, etc., will be sold by
the trustees, and we have many rumors as to who is trying to buy it. We
just keep waiting and waiting to see what will happen.

Saying you got your information "fresh from the Internet-sources" doesn't
necessarily add much to its credibility. Internet (I'm assuming you are
talking about "Usenet" in this instance) frequently has a rather high
'noise-to-signal' ratio.
