I sort of agree with you – I did recently sell a hard disk to a friend of
mine who, until this time, had been plugging along quite happily with an
A500 with 1meg of RAM, running his wordprocessor and a few other odds and
ends and I remember thinking if he had a clone system, what minimum
configuration would have to have just to do that at that speed (did need
disk swapping, but he just followed the system orders :).
'Course, now that he has a 40meg HD and 5meg RAM, he can't do without one
either 🙂

That's a very common situation, that is, once you have a hard drive on an
Amiga, it's excrutiating to go back to a system without one. I remember one
time after I'd had my A2000 with an 030 for a few years that I had to do
something on an unexpanded A500. It was pretty awful, I found.
