My problem regards running the Autodesk Animator utility, Flitape. From all that I can figure my hardware/software configuration is correct except for a driver that I am using called RCTURBOD.EXP which is a display driver for 3D Studio. My hardware consists of: 1. Sanyo GVR-S950 Single frame VCR + drivers 2. Stealth 24 VGA card + drivers 3. Complete Animator Pro software 4. *Note I do not have a Targa board The two line necessary in Autoexec.bat to run Flitape are there. Mine say 1. Set VTPADI=C:\Sanyo\AutoDesk\VTRSAN.exp (this is the VCR driver) 2. Set RDPADI=C:\Stl\Adi\RCTURBOD.exp (this is the display driver) The problem I have is that although Flitape will start, it will only record 10 frames each time I use it. Also, the image on my screen monitor is dim. Does anyone have any ideas why these problems persist. Must I have a targa board to properly run Flitape. The documentation states that flitape was designed to run on a Targa but that it wasn't mandatory.

With regard to your image being dim, how is your Sanyo GVR-2950 terminated? I'm not familiar with this deck but typically a BNC input has a loop to ouput. Its sounds like the deck is double terminated. How are you outputting from your Stealth board? Do you have a SVGA to NTSC converter? If so does it have a sync reference? If not are you using internal or AUTO sync for recording? Some things to look into. Poor reference sync, may confuse the Sanyo so that it won't record. Double termination will make the picture dim. When you go straight out of your stealth card to whatever converter you are using how does the picture look on your monitor? If its still dark you may have to adjust your work to accomodate. What looks right on your SVGA monitor is going to look different once you go into the realm of NTSC. So when creating work for NTSC you need to adjust accordingly. You can partially accomodate for this by adjusting for NTSC and then adjusting your SVGA monitor to be at a similar luminance level. I have experienced just the opposite affect however, my SVGA monitor looks dark as compared to NTSC. -JE

I have used the identical hardware you are using (Sanyo GVR + Stealth 24X + Ani Pro) with the exception that I was also using a Targa 32+ board. How in the world did you manage to connect the Stealth 24X to the video tape recorder (I assume you wanted to do frame-by-frame recording since you mentioned VTRSAN.EXP) Everything I've heard indicated that I needed the Targa board. I experienced great frustration using the Sanyo in combination with FLITAPE, and I'm not sure if the problems lie in Flitape, the drivers, or the vtr's built-in animation controller. When running Flitape with the Targa board everything was by way of the command line (used batch files for this) and the screen remained in text mode. To see the frames of the .flc it was necessary to look at the tv set connected to the Sanyo as a monitor. Occasionally, though not every time, Flitape would simply halt for no apparent reason – tapping the <ESCAPE> key once would bring up a message along the lines of "Continue recording Y/N" and after responding things would work properly (until the next freeze, whenever that might be)
