#Animator Pro on Pentium

Hello! I`ve Animator Pro 1.3 installed on my Dell Omniplex 566 (PCI Pentium/66 with 64 MB RAM and SCSI HD). When I try to start ANI.EXE I`ve to wait about one minute and then I recieve the following message: Can`t initialize resources. Access denied. (File read only?) Any key to continue> After pressing a key I4m back on the prompt. When I install AApro 1.3 on one of the other PC in our network I`ve no problems (but it takes a minute to enter ANI). I`m using DOS 6.2 with HIMEM.SYS and EMM386 (noems) on every PC. The only difference is that one is a PCI-Pentium with 64 MB RAM and the other are VLB-486/66 with 32 MB RAM. AniPro 1.3 is on the local Harddisk and none of the files are read only. The resource directory and the PAAT directory are there. Can it be a timing problem of the Pentium or the PCI Bus? What can I do to solve the problem? Any help is welcome. Thanks in advance. Michael – Michael Bassier, Written 24-May-1994 @ 09:21:13 Using: Windows NavCIS PRO 1.2

I can't get Ani Pro 1.3 to boot up when I'm using EMM386. Try knocking that out of your config.sys and see if it'll work.

Hi Paul! I`ve tried to start up Ani Pro without EMM386 and the error message came up much faster :-). But I can4t still start Ani Pro 1.3. Do you have an other idea? Michael – Michael Bassier, Written 25-May-1994 @ 08:33:52 Using: Windows NavCIS PRO 1.2

"I can't get Ani Pro 1.3 to boot up when I'm using EMM386. Try knocking that out of your config.sys and see if it'll work." This could also be related to a couple of things: EMM386 enables "DPMI" modes that are not compatible with AAPro. However, you enable these DPMI modes explicitly in your config.sys. EMM386 alone does not do it. You might also experiment with the switches on your EMM386 line – there are some conditions which might prevent AAPro from running. Nik

"I`m using DOS 6.2 with HIMEM.SYS and EMM386 (noems) on every PC." Hmmm. I haven't heard this one. If you had not said that other PCs with this configuration work okay, I would have suggested taking out the NOEMS switch on the EMM386 line, and use CFIG386 on AAPro: CFIG386 ANI -MAXV 0 <enter>. Unless you have a very low amount of Base Memory, this might help speed up loading. Nik

Ok. Maybe the new Ani Pro (2.0) will solve my problems. Do you know when it will be available? (Just a joke, I know that Autodesk doesn`t talk about future… 🙂 ) Michael – Michael Bassier, Written 26-May-1994 @ 13:14:25 Using: Windows NavCIS PRO 1.2
