Hi all, Its been a while since I've lurked here. I've logged on a couple of times to find the message threads clogged with news and rumors about C=. For those of you tied inexorably to your Amiga, I hope for your sake it all works out so that there is a steady supply of upward migrating systems from a reliable source, whomever that turns out to be. For our sake, we have waited several weeks to happily announce that we are finally shipping the Raptor. Newtek has done a GREAT job of getting Screamer Net and Lightwave ready and willing to work seamlessly with the Raptor. Although I don't have any exact rendering imrpovement numbers to quote, you probably wouldn't totally rely on my nums anyway, Brent Melnack will have a comprehensive Raptor review in the next issue of VTU. In it he will tell you precisely what kinds of speed improvements you can expect when using the Raptor. He'll even give you example scene files that you can run yourself. From what I gather, you can expect no less than a ten times improvement over the fastest Toaster/Amiga configuration. Sceamer Net was delivered to us today from Newtek and Raptors will begin to roll out of our place later this week. Those of you who are getting one will surely report your own findings here to let others know what they can expect when using a Raptor. We are very excited to be a part of this amazing market and we look forward to working with many of you. We are planning to be at Siggraph and hope to see you there. drp

Don, Can't wait to get one! Well, so how long before you guys buy the Amiga chips and make one heck of desktop unit? If the Amiga dies…you are our only hope! (Can you tell I watched Star Wars last night? :} ) GM

Hi Glen! Hey! That was a pretty good article in LWPro! Way to go! Guess what? I fell off my 500cc dirt bike 3 weeks ago and broke my stupid leg! Had knee surgery but all is well now. Can't put weight on my right leg for 3 months but I'm up and around and back in my studio working. Got my PAR a week before I crashed so I'm just now getting back to playing around with it. The drugs they had me on made me do nothing but watch TV and sleep <g>. I love my PAR! Finally, I can do really high quality animations without having to go to tape or laserdisc. Congrats on the Raptor, you lucky dog. I'm green with envy. Let us all know how excellent it is. Next time you're in town, come see me. The 2112's finished and you've gotta see and feel it. Best thing I ever designed and built. Anyway, just wanted to pat you on the back for the LWPro article. Keep it up. You're doin' great. Best! –>Doyle Calvert Synergistic MultiMedia
