Hi! Some users have asked about our new high-end Toaster painting program Alpha Paint. Check out the May or June issue of Video Toaster User for info or guve us a call at 510-638-0800 or fax at 510-638-6453. Yes, it's true you can paint in 24-bits in realtime directly on the Toaster's output with a one-of-a-kind 12 bit Alpha Channel. Toaster user's have demanded a professional paint program for years—well the wait is over! No hype, just facts, find out more! Pre-book and User specials. Thanks! Tom Patrick InnoVision Technology

Ah, direct painting in the ALPHA channel? Not direct painting onto the image itself? What I hoped this meant was dealing with the image like in Dpaint or TVPaint/Picasso/16M colors. I hope this is the minimum amount of wonderfulness APaint does. I'd love more info. (We spoke, I haven't gotten it yet) thanks in advance/ Mike

Will Alpha Paint work on a non-AGA (2000 with VT4000) machine? I didn't see this information in VTU. David Settlemoir AG&FC Video Productions

David, AlphaPaint works with any Amiga/Toaster system with at least a 2.0 Switcher and 2.0 AmigaDos. Looks like we'll finally have the paint system we've been waiting for…. Brent

<<Looks like we'll finally have the paint system we've been waiting for… …Thank God! I bought the Toaster in '91 primarily for use as a paintbox, and other than the useful "Stranahan" tips, It's been a little disappointing. Now maybe I'll be able to get closer to the Quantel look… David Settlemoir AG&FC Video Productions

David, <Will Alpha Paint work on a non-AGA (2000 with VT4000) machine? I didn't see this information in VTU.> Let me answer this one for Tom, since I know he's probably a bit busy this week. The ad plainly states that Alpha Paint will run on Toaster platforms from 2.0 on up. This would include NON-AGA Toaster systems. BTW, from the latest info (from NAB) regarding the New ToasterPaint (supposed to ship with the Flyer) is that it REQUIRES AGA for Ham-8 preview display. Whereas Apha will actually allow painting directly on the Toaster's frame buffer in real time. Using the Toaster's frame buffer means that you don't have to "second guess" the output based on an aproximation of colors or detail. I am looking forward to this product with great expectations. I've been waiting awhile for a 4000 Tower to get AGA capabilities. It sounds like Alpha Paint will possibly hold me over until we see what the future brings (if anything) for Amiga development. David Settlemoir AG&FC Video Productions
