What I've seen in Philips' labs a few weeks ago was NOT based on
CD32/Amiga technology at all! Sorry, but I've signed an NDA (I can hear
you begging for more 😉 What I can say is what Philips works on won't be
on the market until prices go down…

Today's relationship between CD32 and CD-I is that they share the SAME MPEG
module. What I don't know is who actually makes it. CBM or Philips ? This
common technology is the reason why so much has been said about Philips
acquiring CD32 technology. They have a couple of things to protect…

Is that correct? It is EXACTLY the same? You can plug a Philips MPEG
module into the CD32?

It's not the FMV MPEG module that's the same, it's the format of the disks
that can be played are the same.

My sources at Philips Switzerland confirm that it is PHYSICALLY the same
module. Not only the disks.

No way jose 🙂 CDi and CD32 does not share anything other: it uses CDs
and maybee the same C-cube mpeg decoder ship.
All i/o, expansion, cpus, os, + + + are different.
