Sorry this is not modem related but I live in Rosemont (next to
Villanova) and I was wondering how could I get more information on PAUG
and possibly joining?? I have not been living around here for too long
and I have been looking around for a GOOD users group. Thanks for any and
all information that you can provide me with.

P.S. I know it was lightning and all but is there any chance of repairing
the modems???

PAUG meets the second saturday of the month at 12:30 in room 5051 of
McAlister Hall down at Drexel University. I don't know how you define
"GOOD users group," but I show up each meeting and try to answer questions
and stuff.
The BBS sysop is looking into modem repair, but it is probably not
economical.

I went to a PAUG meeting when no marketroids were available for a
Commodore scheduled demo. They asked if someone in engineering could go
and show an A4000. I did. I realized there were a lot of questions
people had and stuff I could do to help. So I logged onto their BBS, and
later, started showing up at their meetings. When I tried to help provide
a little more order, I got myself nominated as the only cadidate for
president, so now I am the benevolent dictator of PAUG.
I wasn't around for MandelPAUG. I think that MandelPAUG might have been
Fred Mitchell's fault.

This sysop deals with Fido stuff, so I think three of the modems were
USRobotics (he swears by them even though I swear at them). I hate HST.
He's looking into warranty on those, though.

Why would someone *want* to call a company MicroSoft?
I can't imagine that its too popular with the ladies…
Proprietary "standards" make sense when you are lots better than the rest
or when no real standard exists. HST made sense for a while, as did PEP.
It stopped making sense a couple of years ago. Buying new HST and PEP
modems for a public access site seems silly. When I can only connect at
2400 because a Stupid Modem (i.e., non v.32/v.42) is on the line, I'm
annoyed. Even when they're dual standards, they cost several times as
much as a more normal modem.

where did you hear the crap about ms moving away from intel?? win 4.0 will ONLY
be compatible with x86 cpu's.
