Does anyone know of a program to view or convert Adobe Photoshop images?
Adobe PhotoShop has its own proprietary file format. I believe they did start
documenting it in recent years. For a while, they didn't. I'd recommend
re-saving the images in a format that is more easily exchanged: TIFF, GIF,
PICT, etc.
That's what I'd recommend, too. unfortunately, I don't have photoshop. W What
I have is a pair of photoshop *images* I'd like to be able to view on my amiga.

Use Photoshop to write files that are compatible with the Amiga, like
Targa,Tiff,Pict etc. I'm pretty sure PS might even write IFF24 files,
It definately reads them. I haven't heard of any s/w that will read PS 2.5
format :^(
I know how Mac PS artists like to stick to native format, I do conversions
to Targa everyday.

Okay, thanks for the help. Looks like I'm going to have to rely on some kind
person here on Compuserve to do the conversion for me.

I believe ADPro will convert IFFs to BMPs?
There are a couple of really screwed up IFFs of the 'Doze LOGO/Window I
d'led from AFora that would be really fun to sneak into a few peoples PCs
at work (or at least my own).
Would you be willing to convert them to BMP?

I was thinking Email, but does CI$ charge by the byte for eMails…hmmm. I
guess you haven't downloaded them youself from CI$. I know with my
arrangement it's expensive (I've been meaning to go billing to figure out
the best arrangement, but AP is so easy I hate going interactive anymore).
Sooo…I'd rather Email, but I'll send 'em to you on diskette (kept your
address), whichever you like.

If they charge by the byte and the files are large, hmmmm… I guess you
might as well send them via US mail. I get stuff from as far away as
Calif. in 2 days so it shouldn't take too long (as long as you are in the
US).

Dan,
Take the images to a local Mac dealer, bring extra disks and ask ehtm to
bring it into Phot shop and to save it out as TIFF on a disk in IBM
format. THen ADPro, ImageFX and I think even Imagemaster can read the
TIFF images.

Actually, Imagemaster, ImageFX, and yes, even AdPro can read those TIFF
images. :^) IN fact, Imagemaster loads more file formats than either of
the other two. We just don't yell about it all the time.

When you gonna add "Render to Toaster" capability? Seriously. I know you
aren't real friendly with the NewTek folks, but, aside from the lack of a
paper manual, the other reason I keep IM on a removable "off line" and
only use it once in a blue moon is that it lacks this feature. ADPro 2.5
renders to the Toaster as does ImageFX with Byrds Eye ToasterFX add on.
Actually, come to think of it, it could probably be done with your
Framestore saver and a macro…. Something to play with on a rainy day –
oops, winter's over – won't see one of them till next Jan.

Isn't ADPro's "Render to Switcher" feature just an add-on macro in ARexx?
Maybe the script could be altered slightly for use with IM. Or, maybe that
would be illegal and immoral <g>.
In any case, I remember having a little problem with rendering to the
switcher at some point, and I was able to print out the VTSAVE or VTBUFFER
scripts in order to check them out. This was before 2.5.

Well, in 2.5 there is a "VT_BUFFER" saver that is some form of binary file
(C compile, I imagine) and ther is also a "_VT_Display" macro that might
be modifyable. It didn't dawn on me until I was mostly through the
message that ARexx could probably fill the bill.

I did an AREXX script a while back that would easily display IMs current
buffer to the Toaster frame buffer. It was pretty easy with some help from
Ben. It was definately a Hack, but it worked kinda.
First I wanted to save the current buffer to a fixed name in RAM, then I
got toaster paint to load and display the image. It worked fine but I
never could get the save to ram to work right, from what I remmember it
was a buglet in IM (also the lack of chip ram in my 2000 didn't help). I
set it up as a macro key, I used it often for a while.
Perhaps I could dig it up.

Why would you have to use ToasterPaint? Couldn't the script save the
Framestore to RAM:, where the Switcher than grabs it into DV1 or 2?
And, yes, please dig it up.

That capability (direct to taoster output) is in a third party's hands –
when (or if) they get it done, it'll come out. We're not currently working
on it at all, ourselves.
