I thought I had it figured out till I figured it out. I need to generate a magic Wand that moves around the screen depositing particles that decay over time. I have tried using Fireworks and Spurt, but they are either static, or if I attach the source object to the wand, they move with it. The effect I need is to move the wand, at each step along the way (every frame?) start a group of sparks, then, the wand moves on but the sparks decay in place with gravity. Is there a way to do this? The only thing I can think of is to instance the spark object. Will this work? Any other ways to use Fireworks or Spurt for this? Other IPAS? BTW, I need it yesterday…

Doug, If you DL MAGIC.ZIP you will see a sample of an IPAS routine that creates trailing magic dust that decays over time. Kurt

The MAGIC IPAS from Digimation is EXACTLY what you need. My first animation with Magic was a wand with trailing particles. We just started shipping Friday so I can get one to you right away. Call me at 1-800-854-4496 or 504-785-3969. The best part is it's a mere $59.95.
