#MGA 2+
6 messages in this thread
I have an MGA 2+ with 4 Mb ram in a Micron Pentium/66. I use the following
resolutions and refresh rates in Windoz on a ViewSonic 21:
1024 X 768 24bit 100Hz
1152 X 882 24bit 76Hz
1280 X 1024 24bit 90Hz
The display looks as solid as a rock at these refresh rates. My
problem is when I run 3DS3 the refresh seem to be below 72Hz
(flickering). I am using the Inline Vibrant drivers, but I haven't
found a way to specify the refresh rate at a specific resolution. It
seem like the Vibrant drivers are ignoring the MGA.MON file the
refresh rates are specified. I am running the Main display at 1280 X
1024 8bit and seems to be running at 60Hz-66Hz(flickering). I run
the Material and Flic resolutions at 1024 X 768 24bit and they also
flicker. The card is really fast, but what can I do to increase the
refresh rates? I can always use the Matrox supplied display drivers,
but this will rule out the purchase of Liquid Speed.
Yep, I got the same situation here. In fact, I run my editor
at 800×600, and sometimes the monitor starts -SCREAMING- from the
inside… very frustrating, I can tell the specs aren't correct for
the Mag 17F…
Unless Vibrant works hand-in-hand with Matrox (which, ask Pavel, can be
really really difficult) you won't see your max. refresh under 3DS… sorry!

You can see max. refresh rate with Impression PRO. I wrote the small IPAS which
can set maximum refresh rate. I'm running 3D Editor in resolution
1280x1024x24/76 Hz.

Is said refresh routine MGA-I specific?
Thomas,
I don't know. I tested my refresh correction IPAS on my Impression PRO only.
But I'm affraid that this routine is not possible to use with MGA-II. But I'll
upload this small IPAS here on CIS and we will see.

Scott,
are you sure about the 1280x1024x24bits thing? Did I miss some secret updates
for my Ultima? 🙂
