What software do I need to use CompuServe GIF files with the Amiga? I would appreciate anyone's help with this. Thanks. Dom Fontana <– Sent from New York via AutoPilot –>

Imagemaster – it has the absolute best abilities for handling 256-color images of any Amiga software. Two other options are AdPro and ImageFX. –Ben …via AutoPilot

Ben, Thanks for the advice. Isn't Imagemaster a product of your company? How much does it cost? Dom Fontana <– Sent from New York via AutoPilot –>

Imagemaster is indeed a Black Belt Systems product. The current retail is $249.95; the price you find it for may or may not be retail, of course. Since Kermit has also answered you, let me add this: should you choose to get *both* ImageFX and Imagemaster, we've got a macro that can send images directly to ImageFX. There is no ability to transfer the other way because ImageFX is missing that capability. –Ben …via AutoPilot

Thanks, Ben. I'll consider it. Dom Fontana <– Sent from New York via AutoPilot –>

Dom, Grab ViewTek 1.3a to display the files. It'll show them in ECS or AGA, depending on your hardware, and will even save that image as an IFF file.

Denny, Thanks. Is ViewTek 1.3a commercial software or PD/shareware? Where can I get it and what's the cost? Dom Fontana <– Sent from New York via AutoPilot –>

ViewTek is Shareware, and is available for download here and on the other networks. A great IFF/Anim viewer that also shows GIF and JPEG pics.

Dom, if you want to view the files, Viewtek is a wonderful piece of free software and it's online here. If you want to do the most with them, and don't mind spending a little money <grin>, get ImageFX from GVP. By far it's the best thing going for image processing, retouching, file conversion (including GIF and many many others), scanning and so forth. Press releases are online too. Kermit, so you and Ben have had their share of advertising your packages here. Too bad Perry (obviously) doesn't monitor CIS, or else we'd have a rerun of The Great comp.sys.amiga.graphics Flame Wars ;^) I own both Imagemaster AND ADPro (as most people I know do) and would not want to part with either of them. I have not had the chance to try out ImageFX yet, but I'm pretty sure it would cover what the other two don't in one area or another. Tom / Amiga Imagineer from Switzerland with AutoPilot engaged

Now, Kermit. In *your* opinion it's the best. :^) Some people, like me, don't agree and have considerable reason to think that way. –Ben …via AutoPilot
