#GOLF COURSE?
11 messages in this thread
I'm not even sure that i"m do'in this right but i'll give it a shot(my first
time on Compuserve!)…… I'm wondering (and also very ill from 'cdrom
searching' )for an easy way to apply a photorealistic material to a mesh grid
for a golf course. Is there one out there or am I, gasp, optionless?!?!?!?!?!?
I would greatly appreciate any responce
Thanks,

Nick,

What's wrong with using the usual Surface-Material-Assign along with
Surface-Mapping-Adjust-Region_Fit?

In addition to what Jonas said, it might help to note that the terra materials
library doesn't include golf course maps. It focuses pretty exclusively on
naturally-occuring materials.
If you're interested in golf courses, the Schreiber Instruments people sell a
Golf Package of models that may also include maps. Give them a shout at
303/759/1024.

THANKS GUYS-
I'LL START MESSIN' ROUND WITH THE "REGION FIT" BUT IN ORDER TO ACHEIVE THE LOOK
I'M GOING FOR IT'S GONNA TAKE SOME TIME. WE ARE DESIRING THE TWO TONE OR
DIFFERENT GRADE PATTERNS THAT HAPPEN WHEN THE FAIRWAYS GET MOWED. PERHAPS IF I
ROTATE THE MAPING CORDS EVERY OTHER ROW THIS EFFECT WILL OCCUR- THANKS AGAIN
AND I'M CALLING SHRIEBER LATER TODAY.
THANKS –
I'M GONNA TRY BOTH OPTIONS. BUT TO GET THE LOOK WER'E TRYING TO ACHIEVE, IT'S
GOING TO BE PRETTY LABOR INTENSIVE. IT WOULD MEEN DETATCHING THE GRID FACES ON
EVERY OTHER ROW AND APPLYING A SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT
MATERIAL/MAPPING CORDS TO THEM AFTER I REATTACH THEM. THIS SEEMS TO BE THE
ONLY WAY I KNOW HOW I CAN ACHIEVE THE "FRESH MOWED FAIRWAY" EFFECT WITHOUT
IMMEDIATELY INVESTING MY BEER $ TO SHRIEBER!!! DO YOU KNOW ANY OTHER
EASIER/QUICKER WAY? IF NOT, I'M STARTING TO DETACH, ATTACH, MATERIAL ASSIGN,
AND MAP!
THANKS
AGAIN,
NICK HOWER
AAAHH!! THAT MUST BE AN IMPORTANT GOLF COURSE TO SCREAM ABOUT IT ALL
DAY LONG!!!
<g>
WELL IT'S OBVIOUSLY A LITTLE MORE IMPORTANT THAN WHAT YOU CAN FIND TO DO ALL
DAY LONG!!!- 'NUF SAID.

Nicolas,
While you might have taken offense at Thomas' attempt at a
humorous way of chiding you, his reason was legitimate.
Please — as a favor to us all — lay off the CAPS LOCK. The
simplest movement of your pinky will make a world of difference.

I apologize. I just (and many others with me) have a dislike of people
typing in all caps. Are you on a C-64? If not, just pop the lock off.
COMPARE WHAT YOU JUST READ TO THIS.
Doesn't it seem like I'm bellowing that statement? Besides which, it
just looks plain annoying.
Do as you please… and good luck with the golf course!
Thomas and all concerned:
It appears as though I have a lot to learn with these message forums and I'm
looking forward to it. Thanks for the slapping/advise and I guarantee I will
be more attentive to the Compuserve mannerisms. But before I mess up again,
where can I find the unwritten codes for these services?
Not too much else too it. Nobody really gets mad at anyone either, I
guess… frustration only. And remember anyone can read what you post… and
will.
(Good rules for all of us)
