Creative Computers DOES continue to sell Amigas. They might not have any Amiga
4000s in stock, but there's plenty of other Amiga items that are available.
The "news" that Creative Computers no longer carries Amiga software and
hardware concerns one of their stores in Lawndale, CA. About 3 months ago, a
decision was made concerning the Mac and Amiga items in stock at that store and
one in Santa Monica on Wilshire Blvd. Again, Creative Computers has NO
INTENTIONS OF DROPPING THEIR AMIGA INVENTORY. –Tim Walsh, AW
When I called them Tim, they told me that they didn't sell amigas anymore, and
were pretty rude about it.
The Creative Computers outlet store in Lawndale CA. went Mac over a
year ago, and have been pushing the Amiga stuff into the back since.
I was drawn to CC on last saturday, somehow senseing the end. :^( It's
sad to say they were definately packing up ALL the Amiga stuff. The
stuff they had was being sold at regular prices. The guy there said
they would continue to sell Amiga stuff mail order only.
Now I have no alternative besides supporting KJ Computers in Granada
hills , CA. They are just down the street from me, and I've been
buying from them since my first A1000.

On a capitalistic side, I believe they were hiring 6 new employees
for their Mail order desk. If you are between jobs….

If creative has Amigas in stock be very careful about buying. I bought a
new A1200 from them last month, it arrived with a defective serial port, I
called for either an exchange or repair. Customer service and tech support
said I was on my own, they hadn't seen any parts from SMG for 5 months and
none were expected in the future. In short, sorry it doesn't work but its
not our problem, we just sell them and thats all. Creative is obviously
about to dump anything to do with the Amiga from what they told me, I
would really think twice before commiting any money in their direction.
I don't miss creative at all. There have been several occasions where I have
been on hold for 45 minutes, only to be routed back to the operator. I like
dealing with TS Computers in north hollywood. They just got in the first RAPTOR
in L.A. today! Can't wait to see it!
That is NOT the first Raptor in LA…:} We have had many (the only ones
in North America) for quite a while…

Does Amblin Imaging sell Amigas? I would expect you guys to have a good
relationship with newtek, and getting your screamers/Raptors through them. But
if you have a store there on the backlot, let me know!

Did TS give you back your machine willingly when they found out it was
stolen, or did they give you trouble with it? If they freely gave your
machine back to you once finding out, then I wouldn't think you should be
putting them down, after all it IS possible they didn't know it was hot,
and were just trying to get a good deal on a used system.
OTOH if they knew it was hot, then they deserve everything you're saying
about them.

I am glad and I hope it is just that! If you are receiving good service,
please don't stop your patronage. Amiga dealers are hard to find.
I deal exclusively either direct to the manufacturers or my good friends
at Intelligent Machines in Orlando. You can contact them on Compuserve
through Charles Hill who frequents this board.

I suggest that everyone having a problem like this write a letter to, oh,
say, AmigaWorld. They tend to look into problems if they have a lot of
complaints…

Yes, but CC provides a lot of necessary ad income with all those four-color
pages every month. Amiga World would be hard-pressed to do much strong-arming
on their largest advertiser.
I always see their ads in amigaworld, I thought they were a pretty
good comp. I still think they are but I don't live in cali.
Now if you want to know a comp. that ad. in amigaworld that is really
really bad (I hate to put this out) is tri-state they're located
in nyc. Their ad seems great I thought they had everything, I said
to my self wow and they're in ny.
I went over there entered what I thought was an ibm store not sure if
I had the right store I ask they said this is it. There were around 10
salesmen all dealing with the ibm I ask for the amiga section the guy
yelled out a name waiting at least 10 minutes(no joke) this younger than
the rest of the salesmen pops out of the back and says over here.
I'm thinking to myself over here were, all I see is ibm. As i stand in
ffront of him I notice the amiga section- 1 one 1 video toaster for sale.
"can I help you with anything" I asked him for this that or whatever,
his response over and over was" we don't have it but I can get it for you"
you figure it out.
If any one remembers that amiga store that used to be out un nassau
I think it was westbury they were good, well this guy used to work there
so I give'm a A for trying and an A+ for the ad.
I had an identical experience with Tri State in New York City. It
appears that as far as Amiga stuff is concerned, they are basically mail
order. It is not a place for "browsing" and is certainly not a place for
chatting and getting advice. However, if you know exactly what you need
and order from them over the phone, they seem reliable.
My experience with Creative Computers has been good, too. Dealing
with them for at least two years. I live in New Jersey.
My favorite Amiga dealer, to date, is Amigaman, in Pennsylvania.
Advertises in AmigaWorld. Friendly and helpful as well as reliable.

I second everything you said, I always thought creative comp. was
the best and biggest amiga dealer by there ads, and I've had no trouble
with them at all. Like you also my favorite is amigaman they're closer
to ny than cali but I still don't see what's wrong with creative comp.
I guess I can't blame tri state (I was just diappointed in a big way)
at least they're trying any amiga dealer is better than no amiga dealer
and the real ones to blame are cbm.
I give amigaman an A+ I brought a cd32 and the power supply failed
(didn't use surge protector) they replaced it immediately with what
seems is a better and heavier one.
Ya, I guess LA, CA. has always kinda been a Hotbed for Amiga stores,
I remmember when there was atleast 6 or 7 local to me. Not sure how many
are left, if any in the next few months.

And there was room for more. 🙂 Before the latest Commodore fiasco, I
was heavily thinking of opening up my own dealership. Now I'm in wait and
see mode…
The trick is finding a local dealer that fits you.

Not That it realy makes a differance now, but where were you going to open
your store. I never could figure out why there wasn't one in Burbank,
Hollywood area. I think this would be an obvious location concedering the
market….
