From an Australian paper… "SAMSUNG TALKS LIFT COMMODORE SPIRITS" By Geoff Hunt LONG-SUFFERING Commodore and Amiga computer users have been given a ray of hope with confirmation that one of the world's biggest electronics companiesis negotiating to take over manufacturing from the failed US group. Paul Betts, Samsung Australia's information systems division marketingmanager, said Samsung headquarters in South Korea was involved with talks with Commodore International in the US, which made both machines. He said he was sure there were other interested parties but he had no official confirmation whether rumours that a deal had been completed were true. Mr Betts said Samsung was well placed to resurrect the fortunes of the brand,which had an intensely loyal following, if a deal was struck. Commodore International issued a two-sentence statement at the beginning ofthe month saying the company was going into orderly liquidation. Inquiries to Commodore International and Commodore Asia Pacific, the Australian marketing group in Sydney, have since been met with no cooment. ….the rest of it was an interview with a loacl dealer.
