Hi Steve, Hope you don't mind but I'm putting your letter in Pro. BTW, what business do you use your Amiga with? Paul (Editor – Amiga Pro/32)

Of course I don't mind.. I run a Comms/Data cabling company, all office work and Plan generation is done by Amiga. Steve

Thanks Steve, Sounds interesting – what package do you use to implement Plan generation? Also, what packages do you use for your general office work? Paul

Hi Paul, My office work is done using Final Copy, Pro-Calc, Pagestream and Superbase (though I do tend to change databases with the wind, I havn't found one I really like.. except my filofax that is). If I have a lot of text to generate I use an ascii based WP as they print quicker, at the moment Tranwrite does the job. Plan Generation… I tried a couple of CAD programs but still find Pagestream more efficient for 2 reasons: 1. I am very familiar with PS and 2. because I can output a Postscript file on a MSDOS formatted disk and (sometimes) be able to print additional copies on-site using the customers equipment. There is an added bonus to leaving a floppy on-site… customers perceive them as "important" and don't lose them as quickly as they do paper plans … 🙂 My clients are impressed with the quaility of output I give them (Better than other contractors they use) but still see me as an oddball for using a "games machine" (I hate that tag!) to do business work… it seems the proof of the pudding is -not- in the eating! <g> Steve
