computer. I use "Term" or "Ncomm" as my communications software. Se. I keep getting this message: Failure during protocol initialization." What does that mean? I have my modem set at 7-even-1. I have it set to recieve at quick B protocol. Does "flow" have anything to do with this? I'm new to all of this and I'm sinking almost as fast as Commodore International! exit [A

Mario, The first thing you need to change is your serial settings. To download 8-bit binary, you have to be set for 8-N-1. QuickB should work just fine. For Flow control, if you modem can support it, use RTS/CTS. Try again with 8-N-1 and let us know how it goes. If there are problems, tell us the error message you get. We can work this out, but it might take two or three tries to get it right. —Betty

Mario, I've NEVER managed to get Quick-B protocol to work with Term or NComm. When I'm not using AutoPilot I use Term v3.4. If you want to upload message ascii files you will have to use the very slow xmodem protocol – this takes ages but it works. For file downloads use ymodem – its quicker. When you get downloads working get AutoPilot from AmigaVendor Forum – it is an absolute MUST HAVE for Amiga CompuServe users. Tony. Driving my deck on AutoPilot

Tony, funny, but XPRQuickB works fine here as do most of the XPR library protocols. Are you sure you are using the latest and greatest? I do recall some problems with the early versions of XPRQuickB and XPRBPlus which were resolved in later versions. The Four Seasons of Southern California: Fire, Flood, Earthquake, and Riot.

Tony, I'm using xprbplus.library version 1.0. Apparently my copy of xprquickb.library has wandered off somewhere, as I used to have it. Curious. The Four Seasons of Southern California: Fire, Flood, Earthquake, and Riot.
