I wasn't sure if Keesom was a sir name or christian name so what do I
call you ?
Sounds great doesn't it and if I known about this a few weeks ago I
would have bought it but I'm just about to sign a mortgage agreement for a
new house.It means every thing not only goes on hold but there will have
to be cut backs.I afriad that not only will there be no new computer
purchases but Compuserve is about to become a cutback 🙁

ahead of the States but I'm in Belfast only 1 hour behind you.You can tell
if someones in the States or Europe by the ID number,European ones start
with a 1,American's with a 7.Have lots of fun with your Amiga and if your
boss wants to donate another PC to anyone I can befound on Fidonet address

Just in general, people from outside North America who already had CIS
accounts before the European nodes were installed have numbers just like
the rest of us, 7xxxx,xxxx. But those who have joined through the
European (or other non-North American) nodes have the six-digit numbers
beginning with 1.

Thanks for that info. I thought it would be something like that.
So I carry a number which identifies me as one of those people who were
mad enough to pay enormous charges to link to CompuServe. CIS should give
us all a medal.<g>

True, Peter. It was people like you who convinced CompuServe that they
really should make this service available in Europe, because there were
people there who would like to be part of it.

I think that was a smart move by Compuserve. I also have a subscription to
Genie. I rarely use it, since, with a European address, I am not allowed
to connect at more than 2400, despite the fact that I would be paying full
communication charges for a 9600 connection. Contrast that with the CIS
service: local phone call, No off-peak charges, 9600, rising to 14400. Way
to go!

You're absolutely right, first things first. First pay the rent/mortage, food,
etc and when anything is left, spend it on Amiga's.

As the datahighway is the buzzword now, it's a good thing for your Curriclum
Vitea to have experience driving on it. I can understand the situation though.
My swiss girlfriend spended over $30 a week phoning to La Suisse. Became too
much, so now she is using my computer to send faxes to her parents.
Is there no Compuserve node in Belfast? You pay the higher rate? I'm happy to
have a Compuserve-node in Amsterdam where i live, one hour means only $1,= or
so.

I got my PC through a so called PC-Prive project. Your employer gives you a PC
for home-use, so you learn how to use it in your own private time. Because the
government doesn't allow him to give it for free, i had to pay $600,= myself.
But that's no bad for a $2500,= portable-PC. It's a bit like a lease-car, for
not too many dollars one drives a bigger car than one could pay for himself.
But it's not for free.

Oops, i'll have to find out whether there's a bridge too fidonet from
Compuserve.
Ok, hope you'll enjoy your new house, but still have the money to do other
things than paying the mortage.
BTW. Do you live inside or outside the city of Belfast?
