All you Siggraphers be careful when you go for that "cheap" hotel. I
live about 30 minutes from this year's Siggraph and you should know
that some hotels a few miles away are NOT in a very nice part of
town. (i.e. Dominoes Pizza won't deliver there.)
Also, the traffic in that area is HORRIBLE. (all the darn
tourists…B-) Get within walking distance if you can. 'Course in
95+ degrees walking isn't such a great idea either.
Thanks for the heads up on the SIGGRAPH location. Any chance you
could rattle off a couple hotels that would better choices?

The best advice is stick to International Drive or the Disney (may be called
Buena Vista Area) hotels. Those are all good locations and you don't want to
be farther than that anyway. If a hotel advertises "only 'x' minutes from…"
and has a ridiculously low price (i.e. half or so of what you heard at other
hotels) –watch out. If anyone is at a specific hotel they aren't sure about,
I'll be GLAD to find out where it really is and advise accordingly. I don't
mean to make it sound like Orlando is downtown Detroit or anything, but it
ain't all Mickey Mouse down here and hotels in "unprime" areas often sucker in
tourists with promises of easy access and low prices.
Greg:
Thanks for the lodging tip. Hope to bump into you at the show.

Greg old chap,
me and me mate, Alan Iglesias, are booked at the Comfort Inn on International
Drive. Is that an OK place? Should I bring my kevlar body suit? Really, I'm not
a scaredy cat, honest <g>.

Any hotel actually ON International Drive is fine. Leave the body suit at home
(unless your leisure activities lean that way…B-)
Greg,
thanks for the reply about lodgings on International Drive. Sounds like we
should be in good position for the show 🙂
Thanks for the report, Greg.
Say, is anyone organizing a 3DS-related get-together in Orlando??

The local SigGraph or the new local 3D Animators club may be up to something.
I'll post anything I hear in this area.
cya, Greg
Of course, Autodesk is going to put together a little user event as well.
Details to come in July.

Thanks muchly indeed. We be jamMIN!
Greg,
OK thanks for mentioning this.
We've Booked rooms at the Red Roof Inn 1-407-352-1507.
It's Number 12 on the Advance Announcement fold out flyer.
Actually it looks like it's right next to the Orange County Convtion Center.
So What's your Verdict? Thumbs Up or Down.
How many Drug Deals per-hour? <g>
How's the Security.
Do I want to Dress to be in the background of the latest "COPS" on location
Video? <BG>
Murph'
Oh, you darn country folk are so *cute* when you visit the big city. 🙂
