>> Thanks…can you guess what animal I based it on? << Uh, well, I'd say dragon, but that's only because we talk about dragons all the time.<g> It sort of looks like a bug to me.<g> >>>Maybe I try something like that.<g> Why not ;^)? << Actually I'm going to work some more on my Battlestar Galactica style ship. I've finally figured out why I couldn't texture it to my liking. I didn't have enough detail and I was trying to use textures to make up for it. I guss I'll just have to do it with modeling (I'm better at that than texturing anyways<g>). BTW, anyone find the new startrek boring dumb and somewhat femministic-ish? Gene Rodenbury (sp?) is probably rolling over in his grave. -Sam J. Bowling

>>It sort of looks like a bug to me.<g> By Jove, you've narrowed it down to a mere zillion possibilities ;^)!!!! Actually, to get specific, it's sorta based on an ant lion (the head was much broader initially). >>I guss I'll just have to do it with modeling That's what this was; an exercise in modeling w/Real3D. Turned out passig fair, I think. >>anyone find the new startrek boring dumb and somewhat femministic-ish? No, I find it to be much worse; overly PC. Seems that the Star Trek franchise has boldly gone on to be Paramount's cash cow. I'll stick w/B5 (as a side note, I'll bet the guy who developed the lens flare routine wishes he'd patented it; one episode of B5 would provide his retirement pay and put his kids through college ;^).

Turned out passing fair, I think. << Real 3d? I thought you only used 3DS.<vbg> Looks great, BTW. Is it supposed to be damaged or is it only supposed to have one wing? I wasn't sure.<g> >> No, I find it to be much worse; overly PC. Seems that the Star Trek franchise has boldly gone on to be Paramount's cash cow << Not just PC, but it went as far as male bashing in one episode. The women through out the whole show treated men as idiots! And the Pshycic link thing between the captain and the Klingon (cling on?<g>) girl got old after the first 20 times they did it. I want "Star Trek: The Previous Generation" back!! B5 is getting much better than when it first came out. I now watch it for more than the computer stuff! <g> My TV schedule goes from B5 to the Simpsons. (the cartoon not the trial thingy<g>) -Sam J. Bowling

>>Real 3d? I thought you only used 3DS.<vbg> I use whatever'll get the job done, Sam; as it appears in the two pictures, I could not have modelled the ship in 3DS (or most other low end modelers). Could have come close, but some of the specifics would have had to have been left out (some of the curving indents into the 'hull', for example). >>Is it supposed to be damaged or is it only supposed to have one wing? I wasn't sure.<g> Yep, just one wing; nature tends toward symetry, and I just wanted to break up some of that so it'd look more 'made' than 'born', if you see what I mean. >>B5 is getting much better than when it first came out. I now watch it for more than the computer stuff! <g> One thing I like about it is that the storyline is a lot more consistant that Trek's alien of the week/crewmember has psyche problems/holodeck mishap stories (when this week's eposode began (the Beowulf one), I literally said' "Oh, no; not again!"). >>My TV schedule goes from B5 to the Simpsons. (the cartoon not the trial thingy<g>) Must…destroy…mankind…(watch beeps) ooh, lunchtime! ;^). Great minds think alike, eh? John Stetzer JWS

There's no wind resistance in space and no actual need for wings on a space ship. not many people seem to think about this though. >> Must…destroy…mankind…(watch beeps) ooh, lunchtime! ;^). Great minds think alike, eh? << Don't worry it's absolutely safe there is no nuclear material in the bus. Hehehe. I just saw that one. I don't think anything can beat that show. -Sam J. Bowling

>>no actual need for wings on a space ship. True, so I guess that means I should make my next spaceship a box…no wait a minute; that's been done ;^). That's why there is only one wing; no need to worry about atmospheric flight ('course, even w/2 wings, it'd only be slightly more aerodynamic than a brick). John Stetzer JWS

I just posted my reply to your Star Trek:Voyager comment in a new thread. This unrelated topic will probably have a life of its own for days to come, so let's split off the discussion to a separate thread title. "ST:Voyager (non-Imagine)" Blaq!
