Steve, you guys may be missing the real story. The money in the future is going
to be from set top boxes. the rest is immaterial compared to the money that can
be generated from that. This is the future of communications, set top boxes
that mix telephone, video, computer, fax, you name it. If you own the amiga
technology then you can do a deal with a phone company or even a movie company.
You need to keep an eye on the fact that getting the Amiga is probably a
secondary issue for these guys. Watch the reality of production vs. words. I
doubt that they are as interested in reviving the amiga as you think. There are
already deals like this set up in the USA and Europe still is looking for a
marriage like that. Since the amiga is more popular there it is a better fit
for it there. Hope I'm wrong, but keep your eyes open. I understand Escom is
not exactly the worlds most honest comapny.

More appropriately, you can try doing a deal with these people. Bear in mind
that Commodore's efforts in this arena went nowhere – and most of the major
players have already partnered up for test devices. Kind of difficult to think
that the Amiga technology is going to suddenly set the set-top market on fire.

Maybe, but when I think of a set top box, I think of a CD32 with the CD ripped
out and replaced by a modem and a printer(one of those mini's with light
sensitive paper. Then I look at how to reproduce this using different
technology and the relative effort involved..

i don't know the cd32 failed miserably as a product. as an end user i can vouch
for this…obsolete in under 6 months….crap interfacing etc..no save facility
to talk of (1k dont make me laugh)…

The CD32 is only now what you could call 'obsolete' in the UK anyway. It is a
better machine than any other of the 16bit consoles, the Mega 32x tries hard
but still looks pathetic.
The sega saturn and sony playstation and Nintendos 'Never-a' reality are very
powerful but not available. The CD32 IS available (after a year out of
production). Either it didn't sell or there was a big stock pile. This doesn't
mean it's bad though.
How much save facility has a Nintendo or Sega got? I bet it hasn't even got 1k
