#TCP Setup Probs
8 messages in this thread
You need a line like:
ppp0 DEV=DEVS:networks/ppp.device UNIT=0 IPTYPE=33 NOARP P2P
In your amitcp:db/interfaces file.
Steve,
After writing the last ignorant question I read the PPP.guide file more
closely and made the necessary changes to Startnet, Stopnet, and db/interfaces.
Some progress was made now in the AmiTCP log I am getting a message saying
OpenDevice: Device or unit failed to open. All hints are appreciated.

Put ppp.device in devs:networks.
Steve
Steve,
ppp.device is in devs:networks of my sys: partition of my HD and I also made
a clone to put in my AmiTCP dir. The way I read the directions I thought,
since I'm running a machine with an '020 processor or faster I should put the
020 eval version of the device into the DEVS:Networks directory and rename it
to ppp.device. I'm always open to suggestion though.
-Jim-
That's exactly what supposed to do (rename the file to
devs:networks/ppp.device). If that's not working, I'm not sure what's wrong.
Steve
Steve,
Duh! Surfing through the file manager tonight I found a directory called
Prefs:Env-Archive (WB2.x lag). Deleted the Env: and Envarc: Directories I
created. Put the Sana2 directory in Prefs:envarc and all hell broke loose.
Hd's spun, text flashed, and the modem picked up!!!! Of course that leads me
to my next problem, how to get the modem to dial. I've got a ream of
dialscript messages to go through to try to iron out this problem.

You're on the right track with looking at dialscripts. Any of those that have
been posted should work.
Steve,
Got the dialscript to work in fairly short order, got all logged on and got
a few more errors. $pppipremote: Bad value, add net default 149.174.212.2:
network is unreachable, and add net default 0.0.0.0: network is unreachable.
I'm hoping installing Amosaic will take me over the last hump. Work keeps
geting in the way of finishing this project.
