Hello,
I have a problem to connect to compuserve via PPP because of my LAN!
Sounds weird?
I am using a Ethernet LAN connecting an Amiga and a Peecee running TCP/IP.
Without direct Internet access, I choose two random C class IP adresses for
both machines which worked perfectly. Now I want to connect to the Internet
using PPP without loosing my LAN and reconfiguring everything. The remote host
wants to give me a dynamic IP address whereas for the LAN I would need fixed
ones.
In fact, I have got enormous problem with the routing to foreign hosts.
Does anyone have an idea of what can be done to solve this problem?

First, stop using random addresses. Pick something from, say, Commodore's
address so that you know they won't already be used. 🙂
Seriously, forget routing from your LAN to the Internet. It ain't gonna happen
unless your ISP gives you two IP addresses (one for each machine) and sets up a
route. The reason is that the rest of the world won't know anything about the
existence of your LAN and how to reach machines on it.
One machine, though, can certainly use the LAN and PPP (each interface uses a
different IP!) at the same time. Otherwise, I'd be hosed.
