Help! I have a 386sx bridgeboard running on an A4000/040. The problem I am having is that the Bridgecard boots only about once in every 5 tries. I am using the cpu command to disable all caches and when binddrivers is executed, the BB beeps 5 times. If I try to open a pc window, I get "could not open Janus.library". I am running library version 36.83. In addition, Amouse only works once out of every 20 or so boots. I am using an acculogic multi io card with an ide HD for the BB. It seems to work fine. But other Multi io cards that I have tried have worked for a short time and failed. ( made by SIIG). My questions are as follows: 1. Is the library version I am using incompatable with the 4000/040 2. Is the hardware configruation responsible? 3. Has anyone else had these problems on a 4000? 4. Could the multi io cards be responsible?\ and last. If I have a hardware problem, either the 386 or 4000, who could repair it? Thanks Steve

If you can, try moving Binddrivers further down in your startup-sequence. If you have Enforcer (recent versions of AmigaDOS, 2.x and above, I think), use that instead of CPU ("Enforcer quiet"). You have to run it BEFORE binddrivers. Or you could try waiting till the Amiga stops booting, then run Binddrivers followed by PCReset. Your problem probably is related to the Amiga's caching, not to the multi i/o card on the PC side. If you get "could not open Janus.library", the Bridgeboard isn't booting far enough to worry about PC-side hardware. Marion Deland CROSSINGS – Newsletter for Amiga/PC/Mac compatibility

Marion I have tried moving both cpu and binddrivers to right after the setpatch command and toward the end of the user-startup file. In addition, I also have an icon x program which runs cpu and bindrivers after the system has booted. As for enforcer, the version which shipped with the bridgeboard returns the message "cpu too expensive" and the download version on compuserve dosen't seem to boot at all. I will try PC reset after binddrivers, as I have not tried this yet. Thanks for the help. Steve
