#Old Amiga game
5 messages in this thread
Does anybody know where I can get hold of a old game for the Amiga called
'Middle Earth' (based on Tolkien's Lord of the rings). I think it was
distributed by Rainbow arts. It is NOT the newer Lord of the rings games by
Interplay.
Can anybody help! I am a PC user now but I still have my Amiga 500 and I have
been trying to find this game for years.
Well, yes..I have it here on my shelves in front of me…Good game, Very
atmospheric. Being a Tolkien fan I was wary at first but in the end quite
pleased with it. It will work well on your 500..but it doesnt work on my A1200.
It was produced by Melbourne House who are (were) part of the Virgin
Mastertronic Group (so the back cover says). There is a London ph No. here.
However as the game is 6 years old and all the companies have probably changed
hands I dont know how good it is. As I am in Australia I cant check the phone
book!. the Ph number is 01 727 8070. If u cant find one I could always send it
to you if u need (havent played it for yrs) it. …I wouldl check the game
before I sent it (sister has my old 500) ..as I dont know what cond the disk
are in…Paul
Thanks very, very much for the information you sent Paul, it is invaluable to
say the least!
I have been trying for quite a few years to get information on this game but
have always fell on deaf ears. I too have been a very keen admirer of Tolkien's
work for many years now and this game which I once saw on the Amiga was
excellent. Concerning the phone number (and anything else to do with this game)
it has always been the same in this country, for some reason no-one seems to
know or can't be bothered to find out about it. So unless I get anymore replies
it looks like that I am going to have to ask you if I could have your copy, if
your sure it is okay that is.
That was the first mail I had sent and was quite shocked when I got a reply. (
I was even more surprised to get a reply from the other side of the planet! I
live in England.)
Please mail me back about arrangemets.
And thanks again…Nigel

Insofar as you have had good luck from a helping hand across the waters, I
wonder if you could help me? I have been trying to track down a game called
"Kingmaker", produced by US Gold (a UK based company). I finally got their
upper level manager on the phone who explained why my order hadn't been filled
for months. There's been no demand for it, and they couldn't fill my order
until more people ordered it. They also said that it's being refitted in a
cheaper packaging under a different line, and that it would be reintroduced
sometime in the fall.
So, do you happen to know of a copy floating about that someone would like to
sell? I'm a big fan of the board game, and although I suspect I'll be
disappointed in the execution of the Amiga version, I'd really like to see it.
Thanks,

Hello Sean,
Have noticed that you're trying to find Kingmaker. I have just seen the
May/June catalogue from a U.K. mail order company that lists it. The company
is:-
Special Reserve
P.O. Box 847,
Harlow,
Essex,
CM21 9PH
U.K.
Their phone number is 01279 600204, Fax is 01279 726842
The game is listed as Kingmaker ED7896 @ 21.99 pounds.
You have to join their club, which costs #11/year or #7/6 months if you are
not in the U.K. or EC, but you can join when you place the order. Overseas
shipping is #2/software item, and overseas orders must be paid by credit card.
It may be worth giving them a call.
