i found out that you have to set the background to exactly the same resilution
that the grad. designer is set to. and visavera. it work ok , i just wish the
maual would state the more greatly!.

Initially there was a flaw in respect to BXP processes which caused this bug,
you can also avoid the bug by turning rescale backgrounds to tile in the render
dialog, fir the real fix though , Autodesk has alleviated this problem with a
patch release of R4 if I am not mistaken it is called 4.0a or b it also
contains some fixes for dxf stuff, and it is available for free to anyone with
a registered copy of R4.
this should solve all of your problems.
