#Skin Merges
4 messages in this thread
Brian,
I've built a model with skin. When I merge meshes into this skin
project I can't render. Everything on the render dialog indicates that the file
is working correctly, until the last "rendering" gas gauge appears. When this
gas gauge starts, it moves briefly and then just freezes. Do you know what I
might do or whom I should talk to?
Thanks very much.

I don't do much with SKIN, but you have posted your message in the right place
(section 1 of the AMMEDIA forum). I'm sure someone will answer your question.

My navigator s/w must have missed that message Brian, or I would have usually
tried to answer it. If you can re-post it, I'll have a look. My s/w just can't
find it. CsNav is getting flaky on me again.

Sorry Tom, I missed this message somehow.

When you say you merge meshes, are you saying that you have some meshes with
Skin.axp applied to them in the editor, and you merge some more saved Skin.axp
meshes into the editor ?
Is all the applications of Skin.axp turned on ?
What is the range of settings for Smoothness, in the axp dialog ?

Before it gets to the final pre-render stage, take a look at the bottom status
bar's contents. As the Skin calculations are performed, messages are echoed
here. Are there any errors reported ?
When you say it freezes, does the program actually lock up ? How long have you
waited ? Does it drop to DOS ? (you'll usually hear a quick write to disk)
Or, is there constant disk activity when it seems to hang ?
If you abort the render before the final stage, what does the memory related
info under Current Status say ?
I need more specific info..
