#SONY CDU-7205 & Photo CD
3 messages in this thread
I need advice from all who may know some answers to the following
questions.
I have a SONY CDU-7205 and I want to use Kodak Access software to read
Photo-CDs. My controller card is a CDB-242 and isn't 'XA' compatible so I
can't at this point look at photo-cds using Access. I have tried talking to
SONY about the problem, but they are basically worthless when wanting to
get a timely answer. My questions are –
1) Is a CDB-X10 controller card replacement/upgrade available? How much?
From whom?
2) How many Sony Laser Library (CDU-7205) kits came with a CDU-X10 board?
Kodak lists it as an approved photo-cd platform, but I don't get the
impression such an animal exists.
3) I believe other options exist to get MPC and XA compatability. Such as –
Media Vision, Pro Audio+ board for $239 TRANTOR software driver and board
patch for $39 Mathematica TEMPRA Access software for $149 [which may be
incompatible too] Others??? How good are these in comparison, and what are
the pluses and minuses?
Thanks in advance for the answers!!! Doug
The Trantor upgrade kit at about $40 and a program like Virtual BookMaker
or some paint programs will let you view Photo CD on the 7205.
Greg,
As far as we know the CDB-X10 did not ship with any Sony Laser
Libraries the board is available from Sony for about $300-$400. Trantor has
a solution that consists of new device driver software and a jumper that
needs to be installed on your current board. This solution is not on our
tested list because we have not had the chance to complete testing on it. I
have heard from Trantor and various customers that it will enable you to
use the Access Software and read Photo CD discs, so you might want to call
Trantor for more info.
