#Voice Control for 3DS
6 messages in this thread
I have recently had some discussions with a company who have developed a voice
control system for Autocad. The system recognises commands spoken into a
headset and translates them into normal menu/keyboard commands. I was very
impressed during a recent demo and the company who designed it are claiming a
possible 30 to 50% increase in productivity over normal methods of input. (You
still use the mouse for cursor positioning etc.)
If there was enough interest they may be persuaded to produce a 3D Studio
version. Let me know what you think an I'll pass on your comments and keep you
posted on developments.

I would very much enjoy such a tool. My mind works way faster than my hands
and I tend to skip steps and then wonder why something isn't working. If I
could say the commands as I think them I would be far more efficient.
Also, I think that the 3DS menu structure greatly lends itself to voice
control. About what price range would such a product occupy?

It would be better (at least less tiring) a brain connection for
recognition of thoughts. <g>

For a while now, I've used the voice recognition program that comes with the
Creative AWE32 card in Windows. It allows you to perform virtually any menu
function for any program from a voice command. Actually, with certain
applications, this actually turns out ot be quite productive, although I feel
kinda' stupid talking to the da** machine! <g> I've fooled around with using
this with some Windows 3D app's, and it really has potential in this area.

I'd buy it in a second, (as long as the price wasn't astro.) anything to
reduce
arm strain.

Please put me on your advertising list when voice control becomes
available…think of the possible custom command voice "function keys" in 3ds.
