I have a 486/50 with a Mitsumi drive and a sound blaster (not pro). The drive I believe is rated at 300ms access and is not a speed demon. I do have it cached with Speed/Cache Plus. When I play Just Grandma and Me I get some pause/skips in certain places consistently. Has anyone else experienced this problem? I wondering if it is the slow drive or possibly a defective CD? Any and all input would be greatly appreciated by me and more importantly my little munchkin who loves Little Critter.

Patrick, When I first got Just Grandma & Me, I had a medium speed drive and noticed that it was awfully slow running JG&M. Of course, I couldn't get too far because I got a GPF on the second page (audio card fault). Now I have a speed-doubled drive and an SB-Pro and haven't had any slowdowns such as you mention. Turning pages still takes a while, but the animation and sound is smooth. I run a 486DX2/66. Jeff

I can live with the relatively slow turning of pages. It's the sound interruptions that are annoying. When Little Critter is talking about snorkling it pauses halfway through his/her/it's sentence and the result is a skipped word or two. I haven't had this sound problem on other CD's, however, I don't have that many that are so demanding on the CDROM speed either. Still perplexed…

Patrick, Wish I knew what to suggest. I can say that at last report Broderbund wasn't accepting questions in their section in PCVENA. The said to contact them through the mall. Might be worth a shot. Jeff

Thanks. I'll give that a shot.
