Hello, currently we are experiencing problems using Photoshop Plugins w/Animator studio. After right clicking on the inks filters tool, and changing directories to the photoshop\filters directory (where the photoshop filters reside) – none of the photoshop .8bf files come up. HSC kai's power tools filters do come up however. I would appreciate it if you could instruct me on how to use the stock filters that come packaged w/Photoshop 3.0 for windows. Thanks!! Bob G.

Currently, Adobe places some sort of validation code in their filters which prevents software, other than Adobe, from running Adobe made plug-ins. Jh

Bob, Sorry to pass on some bad news, but here it is. I had the same problem you were mentioning, and I called AAS tech support. The official word is that because of Adobe's policy/cost on licensing the rights to use their products (Photoshop filters, & Adobe FONTS!!!) Autodesk is NOT going to be supporting either for use in AAS!!! I think this is a combination of Adobe's arrogance and Autodesk not wanting to bend to their price. The problem, of course, is, once again, you and I have to settle with less than acceptable performance from software we were so much looking forward to. All of the Kai stuff will work, because Autodesk worked a deal with them to license their use… BUT NO ADOBE. You may/may not notice that using Adobe postscript fonts will not "show up" when leaving the Text/Edit tool box. So, currently, AAS only is supporting TrueType fonts – even then, they told me some still may not work. This botched deal with Adobe is going to cause them to have to re-write 90% of their documentation, because they throw around "Photoshop-compatible plug-in" all over the place. Many of us are disappointed… -Glen
