I think it maybe a heiarchcial setting or UV setting problem. I am not sure for I haven't ran into this problem yet. Still I would like to know how you solve it. I am looking into this problem further…I will get back to you if I find something more substantial. Keep in touch anyway…it is always nice to have TS contacts! your TS friend, Kenneth —artist

Hi Kenneth – no. Nothing hierarchical, no UV setting problem. Simply try on a sphere. In 2.0 I always get stupid stripes across the quarter sections. I'm afraid it's sort of a 'bug' or just one o those lacks as amny others ts users have to live with. from ts friend to ts friend . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Oh, IC! I have ver 1.1 and I haven't had this problem thus far…(fingers crossed) Perhaps you could make thin overlay patch strips to cover the area…probably would work and be at least less seemly. I will think about this problem anyway, if I come up with a new trick I will let you know! Ken –ARTIST P>S> What sort of work (art) do you do?

>> P>S> What sort of work (art) do you do? << LOTS <G>. Some modelling of abstract kinds of rooms, screendesigns for multimedia applications (yes I do them partially with ts), today and the next days I'll have to create some video effects where the spectator slips from real video into computeranimation and viceversa. I also use ts to create special effects in videos and multimedia such as flying tiles. opening doors and such. Latest thing is that I could do animated neon-glowing typing in ts. Believe it ot not. As soon as possible I'll put an example into the library. (I'm caught up a bit rght now). c'ya Jurgen

We have similar interests (art) and are seem to be working on similar things. I am building a model of a surface space saving concept to preserve the worlds land surface and create more quality room for humans to live and work in. The tiered acreage also serves as an agricultural, farming and production meduim. The reason I'm using TS for this is because I have written an economic treatise and need better visualation on many of the concepts within the treatise…these are old and new ideas combined in a new way and some people have trouble envisioning the overall concept. This is the most important work I am doing to date with TS. Less important, but more rewarding to my ego is just freely creating images and avi's with TS as I would do with my canvas or any other meduim. I often feel quilty about my art because I have so much pleasure in its creation. Sometimes I just spline a lot of random points and sweep a few times (after rotation adjustments) just to see what happens. Then If the object seems pleasing or reasembles something I continue to apply color, texture, lighting etc. The neat thing about TS is that I can amost also copy and change the varibles on any TS object with realtive ease. Believe me (as you may well know) when working with REALWORLD objects the artist dreds having to copy or redo an entire piece. That is perhaps why we all learn to draw so well. Before TS for me it was easir to make changes on paper before any accual rendering of the finnished object. TS gives me much more freedom with much less worry. Neon-glowing…hmmm, use fog close settings, high ambience, am I getting close? I too use TS to make avi files of flying type to head my MultiMedia pages. My person project is to scan, colorize, redo, and catalouge years of sketch books into some sorta creative sense. Then I fancy I'll send out copies to potential art buyers and let them pick their commision…pay 50% and I then will paint it. Saves on storage, let me tell you! I'm using PowerPoint for the MUlti stuff but I have yet to master it and my files seem to big to fit on one disk. Back to the drawing board. All I know is it will take a while for me to exhaust (to may satisfaction) all the streching to the limit art potential of this relatively new computor meduim. After you see my TIered space concept maybe you would want to add some of your abstract kinds of rooms to the work. It is complex the tiers one mile raduis with large holes in the center, each circular tier staggered about five to ten stories over the other to a hieght of about one mile. There are also subsurface tiers that when totaled increase the living surface area about 100 times. The design gathers the sunlight to run through the large holes in the tiers and bounce off angled reflectors located top and bottomof each tier. Each tier is about four stories deep and the inner layers house everyday life, and houses (about 100 each floor x 4 = 400 per tier with ample space for yards streets and space etc.), businesses, farms, schools etc. THe view from any part will be a spectacular combination of the tiers and the sky and the horizon. The tiers supply more energy than they use via waterfalls hydro power and solar energy. As you can see this is quite a challenge with room for many other concepts. I will hopefully upload a view views and maybe a small avi of the basic structure which is more or less to scale (it passes my test anyway, but I am not going to get an engineering degree off it). I like this project because it has so many problems to solve. I really love video and video effects. what comprises you system? Mine is rather limited to cd clips, PhotoMorf2 creations, and TS. I don't have a live video hook-up or board yet for input and I just shoot the screen with a camcorder for tapes. Not great but it at least gets a crude part of the idea of the creation across. You know I forgot to ask.. what settings do you use in the output for your TS skin problem? Also Have you tried the smooth setting (I know that is redundant but I have to know)? I confess that I am not in any condition to want to "look" to see if I can reproduce this effect…Lately (facing a pending root canal finnish session because one session wasn't enough and rather medicated at the time) I haven't got the guts to go in TS and do anything terribly challenging., Play doom2 instead it has a save button I feel saver there right now. heheheheh Shoot I am going to fill your drive and lose a potential friend! Can't even find me umlate'. Oh well nice talking ..writing to you…what is a good standard keyword to find any work you have on CIS, I use my last name "Klammer" to mark any of mine.
