We have an HP LaserJet 4V that loves to eat any type of paper that is fed to it through the manual feed tray. It doesn't matter what it is – envelopes, paper of any size, whatever, we can't feed it through without it becoming lunch for the printer. Is HP aware of this problem, and is this something that other owners are experiencing? I personally know of two other people who own 4V's who are having the exact same problem we are. I'm kind of asking on behalf of all of us. Thank you, Vincent Close Network Administrator Barudan America, Inc. Solon, Ohio

Vincent, We have approx. 1,000 4MV's in service and I have not had this problem reported to me. In our group we have 5 units and all are working fine. Believe me, I'd be the 2nd to know of any problems <g>. Is this a brand-new printer or did the problem develop after some time? If new, check to make sure that all the packing material, spacers and tape have been removed. Otherwise, I'd have it serviced. – Dick Minnick [Ford],74417,51 @ 12-May-1995, 23:19:51 EST [Troy, MI]

Dick, We've had this printer since November, '94. It usually takes 2 or 3 tries, and some creative manipulating to get the paper to feed. It is especially fond of envelopes, as it just ate 4 of them this morning before I was able to get it to feed it without jamming and shredding the envelope, but it also loves regular sheets of paper, too (we do use laser paper). I'm going to give our HP service technicians a call. The printer is still under warranty. Vinnie
