I am having problems with the Status message "Printer not responding – check cable, power supply." I have checked and used a different cable, reinstalled the driver. Does anyone have any other suggestions? backgournd: I just realized that I was not running on Turbo mode at 66mhz, but at 10 when I installed, so I reinstalled the drivers. No help. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Pam

I have the same problem – it drives me nuts. I also posted a message asking for help, no response yet. Good luck. If you find any info, could you forward it tome? Thanks.

I am having the same Printer Status window problem intermittently. I have also gone through changing cables, LPT ports etc. I now suspect the PC interrogation speed is too fast for the printer to respond, which I think means HP still has a driver problem. I can't believe that so many people on this forum are evidently having the same problem and no-one from HP has come forward with a solution. The latest driver I got hold of is version 31.V1.50 which is supposedly good for Windows 3.1 and Windows for Work Groups 3.11, but I still have the problem. (If you want to try that driver yourself its in Library 4 as L4WIN3.ZIP).

What version of the Status Monitor (WIndows Printing System) are you using? Several poeple have said that v1.35 clears up problems caused by earlier versions. You can get it from HP Distribution by calling 303-339-7009

I am using v1.5 which sounds like the later version but I will try 1.35 and let you know. TIA -Christopher Barnes

Thanks for responding and letting me know there is a driver which might help. I am working under Windows for Workgroups so I was glad to see you mention that it helps. I hope HP generates a fix soon! Thanks again.

I checked my Status Monitor Version – it is v2.1. So, there still is a problem even with the later versions. I hope HP sees these messages. Thanks again for your suggestions.
