Installation of the jetdirect software on a WFWG 3.11 machine inserts a
line:
DEVICE=HPVNPD.386
into the system.ini file. When I disconnect my machine from the
network (it is a laptop with an external NIC, so this means that no network
services load), the HPVNPD driver appears to hang windows during the load
sequence. By commenting out this line, all is well, except that I cannot use
the printer once I am back on the net.
Has anyone else had this experience? What workarounds did you come up
with?
Thanks in advance.

First, make sure you are using the latest and greatest WFWG version of JetAdmin
v.00.03. The most current is available from Library (12) as WFWNPI.EXE.
Also, there is a known issue when you load HPVNPD.386 with 32-bit file access
(VFAT) enabled. The workaround was to disable VFAT. I am doing some checking
to see if there is a permanent fix.
