We are having MASSIVE problems setting up Print Queues from two seperate Novell Servers to print to the same printer. The servers are running Netware 3.12 and 4.10. We configured a Print Server on the one server, say Server1 and set it up to service 2 Print Queues. The one Print Queue is on Server1 and the other on Server2. When I configure the Print Server in JetAdmin, I set up the 2 Print Queues to print there. When I check the printer status in JetAdmin, I can see that the printer has a status of Connected to Network and it shows both queues, one on Server1 and the other on Server. The NCP status is : OxD5. The printer Firmware Revision is A.02.01. However, as soon as I send a print job from the Netware 4.10 server, the job goes to Acrive, but does not print. The printer status in JetAdmin also changes to : "Disconnecting due to NCP Error. Connection Status (NCP) : 0x02 " What does that error message mean and how can I fix it ? After this the printer tries to reconnect to the 4.10 server, but fails. It can however connect to the 3.12 server. Please help !

>> I can see that the printer has a status of Connected to Network and it shows both queues, one on Server1 and the other on Server. I dont think that this is possible. The Printer connects to 1 Server only. This is how it is in Lan Manager, MS Windows NT so I accume it is the same for Novell. Why dont you redirect the Print jobs to the First server? This should solve your problem. Andy,UK

Unfortunately I cannot redirect the print jobs to just one server. Some of the users log into the first server and some log into the second server. ALL of them wants to print to the same printer, though. I am pretty SURE that the JetAdmin utility displays BOTH the servers in the window and then for each one lists the print queue associated with each server. I can even get the print server to accept multiple queues from each server. For instance 2 on the first server and 3 on the second. The display then shows 2 servers connected to the print server and shows 2 queues associated with server1 and 3 associated with server2. I guess my first question to someone at HP is : CAN YOU ATTACH 2 NOVELL SERVERS (3.12 & 4.10 ) TO A SINGLE PRINT SERVER ? and if so : HOW ? ANY help will be appreciated. Fred

>>> CAN YOU ATTACH 2 NOVELL SERVERS (3.12 & 4.10 ) TO A SINGLE PRINT SERVER ? and if so : HOW ? >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Fred, It is configured exaactly as you described in your pbmit a job to a true pserver everything is fine. If we submit the job to a printer using an HP or Lexmark print server it prints fine also. However on these printer devices, they will kick out a banner page and a blank page along with the print job. Any ideas how to stop this? Thanks tom.
