I Just bought a 3000. It is an older version with WorkBench version36.68 and kickstart36.143. My question is haw do I put Workbench 2.04 on the HardDrive. When I try to boot from 2.04 floppy I get an error. Is it possible that the 3000 has 1.3 roms? Ive tried HDToolbox from 2.1 workbench but get an error saying I must have Kickstart 2.04. Thanks in advance. . From Great Minds Come Small Things. RAL . And we all know big things come in little packages!

You need to put the Kickstart 2.04 file in the DEVS: directory. There is a file somewhere on the 2.04 A3000 install disk to do this. If you don't have this disk with your 2.04 set, you may be SOL. I have this disk. Another option is to buy the 3.1 upgrade kit for the A3000. I recommend this, I have not regretted adding 3.1 to the 3000. No it does not have 1.3 ROMS, they are 2.00 BETA roms. The disk has 2.03 on it, and 2.04 WB won't boot with 2.03 Kickstart. The 3000 was released before 2.0 was finalized, and about 6 months after the 3000 came out Commodore mailed 2.04 to all registered 2.04 owners. Why the previous owner did not upgrade is a mystery; the upgrade came free in the mail. Workbench 1.2 = 33.x Workbench 1.3 = 34.x Workbench 1.4 = 35.x (unreleased) Workbench 2.0-2.03 (beta) = 36.x Workbench 2.04-2.05 = 37.x Workbench 2.1 = 38.x Workbench 3.0 = 39.x Workbench 3.1 = 40.x This might clear up the version numbers/
