It may interest you to know that I saw in a broadcast on Dutch televison,
called Veronica Computer Magazine at 950514-200500 the message that Escom
bought Commodore and that they have big plans with the Amiga *and* with the C64
as well. Apparently they want to construct a PC with the Amiga inside for
multi-media (the possibilities of the Amiga where described as “wonderful,
marvellous multi-media capabilities'') whereas the C64 would be produced
*mainly* for the East (ex-Soviet Union).
Sinve this is a very official announcement I thought it could interest about
anyone, friend or enemy of the Amiga.

I have six Amigas, that I use in my TV production business and I don't want to
have to change to a PC or MAC..so that sounds like really good news, see ya.

I have only two, and one where I work. But as a developer, I'd truly hate to go
back to the PC.

Yeah PC sucks, I have to program PC's at work, got win95 now and it's almost as
usable as Amiga85 🙂

Hi Bart,
did you notice that "Veronica Computermagazine" is sponsored by Escom and
that, when they announced the Commodore-deal, they never once dropped the name
Escom at all.

I did not notice the fact they were sponsored by Escom but I did notice that
they did not drop the name of Escom at all. I just guess they don't want to use
their name. The only time I saw it was on a folder of GB-maxitec last week. I
can't erase the feeling they are one of three things:
-a front for a criminal organisation that wants to do money-laundry.
-a front for an organisation that desperately wants the technology but cannot
afford to pronounce it (IBM?, Philips?)
-an “air-bubble'' organisation in the style of super-club.

I always thought they where something like that, but a few days ago I found
out that Siemens-Nixdorf has a big share in Escom (don't know if it's < or >
50%). I know this from a good source, because I work for Siemens-Belgium.
They are planning to use the Escom-stores as the primary distribution-chain
for the Nixdorf-harware (PC's, etc…). And Siemens is a big company worldwide,
so I don't think they would get involved with an air-bubble organisation for
their distribution. OTOH, nobody's perfect.
All this news got me dreaming. Maybe, one day, I will get an Amiga on my desk
at work :-))) .
