Hi Hank,
Thanks for replying.
>Are you using PPP / AmiTCP demo or reg. versions? I may be able to help you.
>Let me know. I just got my set up straightened out and made up a sort of "help
>file".
Demo versions. A "help file" is a great idea, if you are planing to upload
this I would be happy to put it in AmigaGuide format if you like.
>It looks to me like you are using the wrong IP address parameters in your

Yep, I think so. I've managed to fix that last night 🙂 The bad news is it
still doesn't work. The 'WAIT' command is not waiting, although the 'DELAY's
I've put in seem to help (I think).
AmiTCP does start and I get the "demo window", after I click on the 'OK' gadget
I still get dumped into the shell with the following msg:
add host 199.174.129.17: gateway 127.0.0.1 add net default: gateway
149.174.210.3
Here is my dialscript without the 'DELAY's:
ECHO ON TIMEOUT 2000 REDIAL "BUSY" SEND "ATZ" WAIT "OK" SEND "AT&C1" WAIT "OK"
SEND "AT&D2" WAIT "OK" SEND "ATDT3878528" WAIT "CONNECT" SEND "" WAIT "e:" SEND
"CIS" WAIT "D:" SEND "70474,2354/GO:PPPCONNECT" WAIT "ord:" SEND "{password}"
WAIT "please…" DELAY 50 ECHO OFF
And here is my startnet script:
online devs:networks/ppp.device 0 ; log in echo AmiTCP:bin/umask 022
AmiTCP:AmiTCP WaitForPort AMITCP ; Configure loop-back device
AmiTCP:bin/ifconfig lo0 127.0.0.1 ; Configure ppp0 AmiTCP:bin/ifconfig ppp0
$ppp0iplocal $ppp0ipremote ; Add route to this host AmiTCP:bin/route add
$ppp0iplocal 127.0.0.1 ; Add route to the default gateway AmiTCP:bin/route add
default $ppp0ipremote setenv HOSTNAME `AmiTCP:bin/hostname` Assign TCP: Exists
> NIL: IF Warn
Mount TCP: from AmiTCP:devs/Inet-Mountlist EndIf
And the ppp0.config file:
serial.device 0 2400 0.0.0.0 7WIRE CD LOG=50
dialscript=dh0:AmiTCP-4.0/ppp/dialscript
I _really_ appreciate your help with this, thanks again.

John;
Your startnet and dial scripts look o.k. So does your ppp0.config.
< I still get dumped into the shell with the following msg: < add host

At this point in your setup, does your modem seem to be connected? If so, you
are online. This shell message comes from your CIS ppp server, giving you your
dynamic addresses. I get the same message. Try doing the following:
Type "ping ftp.wustl.edu" and see what happens. If you are connected, you will
see that your system is sending packets to ftp.wustl.edu. If both your modem's
send light and the read light seem to be flashing, wait about 30 seconds and
then hit ctrl-c. You should then get a message summing up the result of your
"pinging" i.e. the speed of the signal, and how many packets were received.
Let me know what happens.
Hank
Hank,
I basically have PPP/Amitcp running, but I seem to have a problem with some
sites in Mosaic. The default home page (which is AMosaic's page) always seems
to either refuse me or fail to connect as soon as I start AMosaic. I can access
most other sites OK. I'm wondering, though, if I'm still not quite setup right
(maybe my login/account info, for instance).
Has anyone else been having this problem with AMosaic's home page?

Ya, I had problems with it too all I did was change the default in mosaic's
info file to another address and that fixed that.
Sorry I can't help you but I haven't done the AMosaic installation yet.
