#CD-ROM software

There was, I think, a version of Scala Multimedia (a presentation program) for
CDTV, which might run on plain-vanilla CD-ROM drives if you can find it.
Almathera sells Video Creator, which is hard to describe but lets you do
music-video type funky stuff to incoming/outgoing video. But it's a CD32 disc
and may not run on a plain-vanilla drive. Another CD-ROM Amiga disc (from a
British outfit) lets you develop multimedia applications that can later be
saved off to hard drive for mastering onto CD-ROM. There's also a basic genlock
program that comes on CDTV disc with the CDTV genlock, which would be useless
to you except that a couple of places are now clearing out the bundle for $25,
so maybe the disc itself would be useful.
The Knowledge Media Multimedia disc includes a free copy of VIVA, a commercial
multimedia authoring program for the Amiga. Safe Harbor was selling that one.
It's a plain vanilla CD-ROM that also has executables for other computer
platforms plus images, sounds, etc. Good deal.

Just for your information: Video Creator runs on any A1200 or A4000 with any
IDE-ATAPI or SCSI-II CD-Rom with CacheCDFS.

Hey, thanks for letting me know! I'll file that tidbit for the day I get a
SCSI-2 CD-ROM setup, if ever. Then again, maybe Video Creator will work on a
lesser rig with AsimCDFS 3.0, if that ever gets delivered.

I was wondering if anyone had heard anything about the status of AsimCDFS 3.0.
Last I heard over a month ago was that they were just waiting for the manuals.
Anyone else heard anything about 3.0 and when it might actually start shipping?

Finally got tired of waiting and called AsimWare today. A sales person told me
they're shipping AsimCDFS 3.0 the end of next week. Let's wait and see.

Funny, they told me exactly the same thing about 2 months ago.

Thanks Ron for the info about AsimCDFS 3.0. Yep, we will find our soon enough
if it is one of those RSN ploys <g>.
