#PCMCIA Modems

Is it possible to use a Toshiba PCMCIA modem with a 1200?
If so how do I get any software that I need?
Kevin – I have only one answer and you won't like it……I just don't know! I
think it ought to work, and that you could use any Amiga terminal software with
it. If I had the modem, I would just try it. PCMCIA is supposed to be a
standard!

Betty, I tried putting a Megahertz 14.4 PCMCIA modem in my A1200 and, although
the Prepcard program saw the card as a Megahertz modem, it couldn't do anything
with it. A 3rd party driver is definately needed for any PCMCIA card other
than memory cards.

Thanks, Rick. I don't have a 1200, so I couldn't try this out.

Don't feel too badly. I just tried to run Compuserve Info Manager for Windows
on my 486 laptop with a PCMCIA modem. The install routine found the modem and
identififed it correctly, but the software refuses to dial out.

There is a software company that developed a PCMCIA modem driver for 99% of
modems. Cannot remember the name though 🙁 You will definately need a driver
though, if I had one and the spec sheet for it I would have a go (also my a1200
is being fixed).

Thanks for the input but does anyone know where I can get a driver !
I can get the amiga to see the card but it just doesn`t want to know unless its
ram.
there is a pcmcia modem driver available in amigatech ,but it may not wotrk
with your modem card.
I cannot find the PCMCIA modem driver you spoke of in the AmigaTech forum. Do
you happen to know the filename?

well it was from 1993 though it still may not work on your modem as it was for
some brand like aztech or amstrad or something
Still, I might get an idea from on on how to code a new one (assuming it has
the source code, of course).
