Hilary: For what it's worth, I've had great service from Dirt Cheap Drives. Their prices aren't far off even when not the cheapest and everything has gotten to me quickly and has been exactly what I expected. <…messing with both the Amiga and our big PC…> I have a big PC and my A3000; neither sits on my desk. I have 2 monitors, 2 keyboards, and 2 mice within easy reach. Talk about getting muddled up! <G> Tom

Thanks Tom. I have just bought a CHINON Cd-ROM drive for under $200. It came with an external terminator. It is only 2X speed, but should do the job. It is their Model CDS-535. Just have to get a small case and one of the power supplies we have around. We mounted the Amiga 4000 in one of our equipment racks. In its own compartment – but without the cover on the computer. We then added and extra fan to the compartment… so it runs "real cool". It is a bit difficult going into the office and messing with the high powered 486 PC with WINDOWS… then toddling down to the studio to work on the Amiga. I do have the CrossDOS software, so on occasion I can take crossover type programs on both machines. All the best, HILARY.

It is also available on the Amiga Libraries. Great little program for playing audio CD's. Hank Videology, Inc Where you always get P.O.M.P. and Service under all circumstances

Thanks Hank. My error… Although I have probably the ROM 3.1 chip in the 4000/040 (which I bought last summer). I still use the Version 2.04 software. I do not feel like spending the $150 or so, at this stage in the declining Amiga years. I did download the "YACDP.LHA" file…. also managed to find the "reqtools.library" program – also downloaded. Notice that both programs come from Europe. Interesting that we cannot come up with similar programs over here in the USA. Like TV's and VCR's and lots of other things… we don't "grow" them anymore… just "eat" what is shipped in to us. Big pity. Thanks for all your help Hank. Hank. Further to my earlier note. I find that we have the Workbench Ver 3.0 MOT 3.1 as I had supposed. I did manage to find the recommended YACDP.LHA file in the Library – and downloaded same. On reading the documentation, it sats that one has to have OS2 (or preferably OS2.1), also a file called "reqtools.library". What the nerck is OS2… and where does one find the "reqtools.library". Must say that the Amiga software for the CD_ROM project is complicated… and seemingly clumsy, in contrast to the very easy installation on a PC. All the best, HILARY.

Os2 is referring to amigados2.0 + and v37 or better of reqtools library.reqtools.library v38.9 is available in the amigatech forum.all library files should go to the libs: directory

You can get the reqtools.library from the Amiga forum also. Sorry I forgot about it. Since you're running with WorkBench Ver 3.0 (i.e. OS2 or greater) your operating software is fine. (like MSDOS 5.1, Windows 3.1, etc). Hank Videology, Inc Where you always get P.O.M.P. and Service under all circumstances
